The Cross River State Task Group on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (STG-WASH) has proposed a harmonised data system to facilitate access and research, a critical impediment to delivering WASH services.
The STG-WASH Chairman, Engr Okon Ita, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Water Resources, appealed to Self Help Africa (SHA), his Ministry’s partner, to facilitate the process.
The call was made during the second general meeting of the State Task Group held at the conference room of the Ministry of Water Resources on Friday, 24, January 2025. “We want to house all our data on a website, it would be a beautiful thing to do,” the Cross River STG-WASH Chairman emphasized.
Terms of References (ToR) for the sub-committees set up during the inaugural meeting were reviewed. Resource and Mobilisation, Water Supply, and Sanitation and Hygiene were accepted while Research and Documentation and WASH in Emergency and Climate Change were returned for improvement.
The quarterly work plan of the Cross River State Task Group on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene was adjusted.
In his closing remark, Engr Okon commended the Society for Water and Sanitation (NEWSAN) and Self Help Africa (SHA) for their support thus far, pledging his Ministry’s corporation.
