In a decisive move to tackle insecurity, the Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu has launched a new security outfit, Operation Okwok, aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements. The governor made this declaration in a strongly-worded statement on Tuesday after the launching, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.

Expressing his resolve, the governor stated that unrepentant criminals should brace for the full force of the law, as Operation Okwok—symbolized by a “bee” ready to sting—will show no hesitation in confronting crime. He reaffirmed that his government would stop at nothing to make Cross River a haven of peace, progress, and prosperity.

The launch of Operation Okwok comes amid rising concerns over security challenges in parts of the state, including armed robbery, cultism, and kidnapping.

As the initiative takes off, the governor called on all residents to support security agencies in their mission to safeguard communities. He assured the people of his unwavering dedication to making Cross River a safer place for all.
