The Cross River State Government has dismissed reports of an Ebola outbreak in the state, assuring residents that no case of the disease has been recorded anywhere in the state.

The State Epidemiologist in the Ministry of Health, Mrs Inyang Ekpenyong, gave the clarification in an interview with BANNERNEWS in Calabar.

“There is no case of Ebola disease in any part of the state. The only reported case is in Abuja,” Ekpenyong said.

She said the state government had put preventive measures in place to guard against the possible introduction and spread of the disease into Cross River State.

“The government has been proactive in this regard. We have already put a lot of measures in place to avert its outbreak in the state,” she added.

However, Ekpenyong did not provide details of the specific measures adopted by the government to prevent a possible outbreak.
