In a dramatic reversal, less than 48 hours after publicly criticising his former principal, Awade Friday AKA Otwetwe, a constituent and former aide of Hon Peter Akpanke, Member representing Obudu, Bekwara, and Obanliku constituency, has deleted his strongly-worded grievance and posted a message of unwavering support.
The original post, which sparked an uproar, was a direct accusation against Hon Akpanke for being “nonchalant” following Awade’s recent detention by the police. The deleted statement had expressed frustration with the lawmaker’s alleged indifference. It included a clear political warning that Awade’s polling unit held votes that could “give you victory or make you lose”.
The deleted post, which analysts viewed as a public sign of “fracturing loyalty” within the lawmaker’s grassroots support base, has been replaced by a renewed declaration of commitment.
The new post reads: “Awade, you have really gone through a lot, your anger is justified, you have a bigger task ahead, be focused on the Goal and let go all distractions … You Put Body, you go collect. Shame on the political enemies of my boss, Hon Peter Akpanke. Watch out for 2nd Peter Chapter 27, Let’s do it again.”
This swift U-turn signals an immediate and successful resolution to the public rift. While the statement acknowledges the validity of the initial anger (“your anger is justified”), it frames the conflict as a “distraction” that must be abandoned to focus on a “bigger task ahead.”
