Awade Friday, an aide who was held in police custody since Thursday evening, has been released and is currently assisting investigators in connection with the death of Mr Abel.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, had told journalists on Friday that the aide is assisting investigators. The Police, however, did not disclose further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the death or the extent of Awade’s involvement, maintaining that investigations are ongoing.

Following his release, Awade Friday issued a statement expressing “heartfelt gratitude to all who called, checked up on me, and stood by me” during his time in custody.

He noted that the concern, messages, prayers, and efforts to reach him “meant more than words can fully explain,” providing strength during those moments.

Friday concluded by assuring he will “continually remain committed to doing good in my little capacity, carry people along and give them opportunity where necessary”.
