The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the constitution of a Bursary Steering Committee to oversee the implementation of the state’s bursary programme and ensure a transparent, inclusive and accountable process for students.
The development was announced in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr Linus Obogo.
According to the statement, the committee will be chaired by the Chairman of the Cross River State Scholarship Board, Prof Paul Itari. Other members are Comrade Kelvin Enyam, Mr Matthew Ochiche and Comrade Abini Okoi, while Dr Emmanuel Duke will serve as Secretary.
The committee has been tasked with developing a transparent bursary application model, designing an efficient data collection and payment framework, and engaging relevant stakeholders to improve the administration of the scheme.
It is also expected to identify and address administrative bottlenecks while recommending strategies that will guarantee a credible, inclusive and accountable bursary administration process across the state.
