While noting his inability to influence a party ticket, Mr Friday asserted his political leverage: “I have the will of the people, and I am from a Polling unit with at least 10 or 100 votes that can give you victory or make you lose.”

A former associate and staunch constituent of the Honourable Member of Parliament, Hon Peter Akpanke, member representing Obudu, Bekwara and Obanliku constituency, has publicly accused the lawmaker of a severe lack of concern following his recent detention by the police.
Awade AKA Otwetwe took to social media barely 48 hours after release to express his frustration in a strongly-worded post addressed directly to Hon Akpanke. The comment, tagged with the defiant hashtag #LessonsFromMyOneNightInDetention, highlights the lawmaker’s alleged indifference to a second recent “important/Sad” event in Mr Friday’s life.
In the emotional message, Mr Friday criticised the Honourable MP for being “nonchalant about it even in all we share in Hopes, Loyalty, commitments and support to you and your ambition.” He stressed that politics should not overshadow human empathy, stating, “Life does not begin and end with Political activities, show concern and check up on your constituents and supporters, it’s not really about money.”
The post contained a pointed, emotional critique of the politician’s priorities, alluding to the common political practice of offering posthumous financial aid: “If to say I die now you go hear, we will support the family with 5 million naira and train the children to University level.”
The most significant part of the statement was a veiled political warning and a declaration of self-sufficiency. While noting his inability to influence a party ticket, Mr Friday asserted his political leverage: “I have the will of the people, and I am from a Polling unit with at least 10 or 100 votes that can give you victory or make you lose.”
Concluding the message, he framed his grievance not as an act of entitlement but as his fundamental “right as one of your constituents,” ending with a bold pronouncement: “I take this your action as carelessness over my wellbeing, and I have learnt a lot. A New and Dogged Me is born.”
The comment is viewed by political analysts as a public sign of fracturing loyalty within the lawmaker’s grassroots support base, coming on the heels of a traumatic personal event for the constituent.
The post on Facebook has gotten over 300 reactions, 6 shares and 164 comments.
Hon Peter Akpanke’s office has been reached for comment on the matter as of press time.
