Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, while taking a veiled swipe at one of the President’s political rivals.
Otu made the declaration in Ogoja during the endorsement of President Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates by the Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON). The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Peter Odey, said Cross River would remain firmly behind Tinubu, dismissing the need to be distracted by other presidential contenders.
Taking a jibe at the unnamed rival, Otu said: “The other man, we will send him to Bangladesh because anytime he is talking, he will tell you how many square kilometres are in Bangladesh. So we won’t bother about that one; President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is who we will support for President.”
The Governor also announced a ₦30 million donation to CRISPON, in recognition of the group’s political mobilisation and support for the APC. The endorsement event brought together political stakeholders and supporters who pledged their backing for Tinubu, Otu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
