By Archibong Jeremiah

In a statement released yesterday, Mr. Darlington Edem, the deputy chief press secretary to the governor of Cross River State, announced the news of the state’s imminent return to oil production.

Mr. Edem declared that drilling activities in four oil wells will commence “within the next few weeks,” effectively marking Cross River’s return to the ranks of oil-producing states in Nigeria.

This development comes after years of dormancy in the state’s oil sector. The announcement has been met with positive reactions from various stakeholders, who see it as a significant boost to the state’s economy and a potential driver of development.

Details regarding the specific locations of the wells, the companies involved, and the projected timeline for production are not yet available.

However, Mr. Edem’s statement serves as a promising update for the people of Cross River State.
