The ICIR took to social media, urging the public to amplify the situation.

It has been over six hours since Dayo Aiyetan, Executive Director of the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), and Nurudeen Akewushola, an ICIR reporter, were invited by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) and have not been permitted to leave.

The invitation followed a report detailing how past police bosses used their offices for official corruption.

Deepening concerns have been expressed by journalists and civic space actors on social media.

The ICIR took to social media, urging the public to amplify the situation.

They are hoping to raise awareness and pressure authorities to explain the detention and release their staff.
