Eleven aggrieved members of the Cross River State House of Assembly have met with officials of the Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria movement in Abuja amid reported disagreements over the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket arrangements for the forthcoming elections.

The lawmakers, led by the House Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Francis Asuquo, visited the movement’s national office, where they held a strategic meeting with Hon. Innocent Egede, National Director of Strategic Deployment and Implementation. The delegation reportedly reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but expressed reservations about extending the same support to other APC candidates in the state, including Governor Bassey Edet Otu.

Their position was reportedly linked to their exclusion from the party’s ticket arrangements, with some seeking a third term and others a second term in the Assembly. The lawmakers are said to be aggrieved over the perceived restriction of their re-election ambitions, particularly as the governor is seeking a second term.

During the meeting, Egede appealed to the legislators to reconsider their position and support all APC candidates in the state, warning that internal divisions could weaken the party’s electoral prospects and affect Tinubu’s performance in Cross River.

Egede subsequently led the delegation to meet the Director-General of the movement, Hon. Bala Ahmed, who also urged the lawmakers to align with the broader electoral objectives of the APC. Ahmed pledged to integrate them into the movement’s national operational structure, subject to approval by Barr. Seyi Tinubu, the movement’s chief founder.

Other members of the delegation were Rt. Hon. Davies Etta, Deputy Leader representing Abi; Hon. Egbe Abeng Egbe of Obubra II; Hon. Ovat Dickson Agbor of Obubra I; Hon. Ashakia Puis Ashaks of Obanliku; Hon. Victor Nsa of Calabar South II; Hon. Bassey Effiong Bassey of Akpabuyo; Hon. Eyo Bassey of Bakassi; Hon. Okon Nyong Ewona of Akamkpa I; Hon. Mercy Akpama of Yakurr II; and Hon. Kingsley Ntui of Etung.
