The purpose of doing business is to provide services and generate income. So it is with politics: to serve the people and, in return, be served by the system one helps to govern.

In politics, you become a decision-maker for the people you govern, a custodian of the law, and a leader responsible for enforcing established rules and orders.

There is a general belief that wherever a person works should also be where they earn their living.

Vena Ikem’s defection to another political party is normal in a democratic system. Politics allows individuals to seek new platforms, explore opportunities, and find refuge where they believe their interests are better served.

Vena is a politician whose professional life has been in the political industry since 1988. His services, experience, and engagements have been concentrated in politics. It would therefore be unreasonable to expect him to remain in a political environment where he believes the opportunities to sustain his political enterprise are no longer available.

Congratulations, Vena, for recognising that you deserve a better store in a better location. At least, I am hopeful that you would be able to buy engine oil from me going forward! LubX Oil is good for your vehicles and machinery! No more excuses o … Because this time I go fight you pass wetin you expect.

You and I were pioneers in the APC; on my nomination, you refused to support me because I said Paul Adah was the leader; you ignored my sacrifices and expenditures to the party more than anyone else. Still, I won the nomination, and you were proud of how I scaled through.

Me, I am not a politician o … I am an engine oil seller. Just buy from me, and your sins would be forgiven.

See Hon. Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment? Sen. John Owan Enoh has come, and he bought; he’s in the APC just like you.

After all, even in business, the quality of your products is important, but so is the location of your store. Sometimes, success begins with the courage to relocate.

Mr Koko Dan is the CEO of  LubX Oil businessman based in Abuja.
