Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, has directed the immediate reconstruction of failed sections of the road corridor stretching from the Ayade Flyover, popularly known as the Spaghetti Flyover, through Toy Gate to Akim–Akim in Calabar.

The directive was issued following the Governor’s inspection of the affected areas, where he assessed the deteriorating condition of the road and stressed the need for urgent intervention to ensure the safety of motorists and residents using the route.

Governor Otu reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering durable and quality road infrastructure across the state. He noted that critical road networks must receive prompt attention to improve transportation, enhance connectivity, and stimulate economic activities within the state.

Responding to the Governor’s directive, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr Pius Ankpo, assured that the Ministry would immediately mobilise to the site to commence reconstruction.

He added that the project would be executed in line with approved engineering standards to guarantee durability and long-term serviceability.
