The Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), South East Chapter, has appointed Dr Ekpenyong Ambo as the Acting Zonal Coordinator of the NIFST Calabar Zone.

The appointment was conveyed in an official letter dated May 22, 2026, and signed by the Chairman of the South East Chapter, Dr Moses Ojukwu.

According to the letter, the appointment takes immediate effect and is in recognition of Dr Ambo’s commitment, professional competence, and contributions to the advancement of the food science profession and the institute.

In his new role, Dr Ambo is expected to provide leadership and coordination for activities within the Calabar Zone, encourage active participation among members, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve the institute’s objectives.

The letter outlined key responsibilities of the acting coordinator to include coordinating the activities and programmes of the Calabar Zone, strengthening membership engagement and professional development initiatives, serving as a liaison between the zone and the Chapter Executive Council, and promoting the vision and ethical standards of NIFST within the zone.

The institute expressed confidence in Dr Ambo’s ability to discharge his duties with dedication, integrity, and excellence.

NIFST also congratulated the appointee and wished him success in his new assignment.
