By TheInvestigator

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Board of the Local Government Service Commission following reports of gross abuse of office and widespread employment racketeering linked to the Commission’s recruitment exercise.

The decision, announced in an official press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr Linus Obogo, comes after mounting allegations that the recruitment process had been compromised through unethical practices.

Governor Otu described the revelations as “concerning,” noting that the actions of those involved constituted a betrayal of public trust and a clear affront to the ethics of public service.

He reiterated that the flawed recruitment process remains suspended as earlier directed, pending the commencement of a fresh, transparent, and merit-driven exercise aligned with the administration’s standards for accountability and fairness.

The Governor further restated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and assured the public of his commitment to restoring confidence in public institutions.

“The actions uncovered are unacceptable. This administration will continue to uphold integrity and ensure public offices serve the best interest of the people,” the statement emphasized.
