NYCN Cross River State Inaugurates Committees For 2025 Sports Fiesta

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Cross River State Chapter, has unveiled the list of officials appointed to serve in various committees for the forthcoming Cross River State Sports Fiesta 2025, themed “Build the Youth, Build the Nation.”
The appointments were made by the Deputy State Chairman of NYCN and Chairman of the Sports Fiesta, Ngban Basil Ngban, and subsequently ratified and approved by the State Chairman, Emmanuel Olayi.
According to a press release signed by Itanim Christopher John, Secretary of the Sports Fiesta, the central planning committee will be led by Ngban Basil Ngban as Chairman, with Engr Joel Henshaw as Alternate Chairman and Comrade Itanim Christopher John as Secretary. Other members include Bartholomew Wushie, Ujong Laban Ibor, Nsikak Effiong, Lawrence ID, Ruth Okpo, Bassey Etim, Amadi Jude (Representative, CSC 1898), Mike Andotan (Stadium Manager), and several others.
The council also announced zonal committees for the three senatorial districts. In the Southern Zone (Zone A), Livingston Nsemo will serve as Chairman with Eddie Okokon Eddie as Alternate Chairman. The Central Zone (Zone B) will be chaired by Obuli Arikpo, with Douglas Ekiwa as Alternate Chairman. The Northern Zone (Zone C) will be led by Timothy Unyi and Basiru Isa.
Other specialised committees were also constituted. The Finance Committee is headed by Emmanuel Olayi with Ushie Bartholomew as Alternate Chairman. The Media/Publicity Committee will be chaired by James Eku, assisted by Ujong Laban Ibor, while Effioawan Nsefik, Francis O. Omachi, and Geraldine Ogar are among its members.
For Branding, Odo Abung Odo will serve as Chairman, and the Logistics Committee will be chaired by Egede Joshua. The Entertainment Committee is led by Terem Igbodor, while the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee is chaired by Joel Henshaw.
Others include the Protocol Committee headed by Nsa Jeremiah, the Security Committee chaired by Nsikak Effiong, and the Technical Committee under the leadership of Ubi Onen.
The statement from the NYCN Secretariat at Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar, extended congratulations to all appointees, urging them to demonstrate commitment and teamwork in ensuring the success of the 2025 Sports Fiesta.
“This exercise is not just about sports; it’s about building unity, leadership, and healthy competition among the youth,” said Ngban Basil Ngban.
The State Chairman, Emmanuel Olayi, also commended the organising team, emphasising that “the Fiesta will showcase the talents and resilience of Cross River youths.”
The Sports Fiesta is expected to feature participants from across the state’s 18 local government areas, marking one of NYCN’s largest youth engagement events in recent years.
