The Cross River State Governor, His Excellency, Sen Bassey Edet Otu, has commenced the rehabilitation of electricity infrastructure in Idundu and Anyanghanse communities in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, with a firm assurance that residents will enjoy electricity supply before Christmas.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, the Director General of the State Electrification Agency (SEA), Mr Francis Ekpo, said the project underscores the Governor’s commitment to electrifying all communities across the state.

Mr Ekpo noted that Governor Otu has already initiated several power projects and remains determined to extend electricity to more rural areas, stressing that improved power supply is key to enhancing the quality of life, boosting economic activities, and promoting social development.

The Village Head of Idundu, His Highness, Chief Effiom Ebagha, expressed gratitude to the Governor for remembering his people and fulfilling his campaign promises. He pledged the community’s continued support to the present administration.

Similarly, the Councillor representing Idundu Ward, Hon Bassey Ita, along with several youths who spoke at the event, commended the Governor for keeping faith with the people. They described him as a “People First Governor” who has remained intentional about the welfare of citizens despite prevailing challenges.

The youths further pledged to safeguard the facilities provided by the government, acknowledging the adverse effects of vandalism and reiterating their resolve to take ownership of the infrastructure.
