Police Officer Allegedly Commits Suicide In Port Harcourt

As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.

Tragedy struck in the Eagle Island area of Port Harcourt in the early hours of Tuesday, April 22, 2025, as Inspector Maxwell Zabu, a serving police officer, reportedly took his own life.

According to Dez Mayorz News, Zabu, who was known to many as a dedicated officer, allegedly shot himself in his room under circumstances that remain unclear. Until his death, he served as an orderly and close aide to Hon Victor Ihunwo, the former Mayor of Port Harcourt.

Zabu was well-regarded by his colleagues and community, with many expressing shock and sorrow over the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
