We’ll Complete Obudu Airport, Says Gov Otu, Charges Cross Riverians On Choice Of LG Chairmen

He also gave insight into his administration’s plan on the Obudu Ranch Resort as well as the suspended Council polls.

By Agba Jalingo

Cross River Governor, Senator Bassey Otu has reiterated the commitment of his administration towards the completion of the Obudu Cargo Airport.

The project, initiated by his predecessor, Governor Ben Ayade, has missed several delivery dates. But, Governor Otu said the completion of the airport will build a robust economy in Obudu that people are yet to come to terms with.

He disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, during an interactive session with the Editor-In-Chief of CrossRiverWatch, Agba Jalingo.

The Governor said he is persuaded to push on with the project in spite of the cynicism that has trailed it, because he is convinced that the economic importance of the airport cannot be overemphasized.

On the delays in the delivery of the project, He explained that it is due to some quality control targets the ministry of aviation inspectors are insisting on and his own penchant for quality work.

Otu, who assured Cross Riverians that he will continue to put God first throughout his administration and remain faithful to the oath he took to protect and defend all Cross Riverians without prejudice, called on Cross Riverians to remain confident in his government and know that things will get better as he progresses further into his term in office.

He also gave insight into his administration’s plan on the Obudu Ranch Resort as well as the suspended Council polls.

He disclosed that the moribund Obudu Ranch Resort which has been in decrepit state for some years now, is undergoing massive renovation and that round-the-clock electricity has been restored to the premium holiday destination.

He further revealed that Marriot, a hospitality firm, has indicated interest in taking over and managing the facility and that it will create a huge leverage to revitalize the second highest mountain top resort in Nigeria.

It will be recalled that the situation at the ranch got so bad in the recent past that visitors had to go down the ranch to hire power generators from communities at the bottom of the ranch to power rooms on the ranch. However, CrossRiverWatch can confirm that power indeed has been restored to the facility and renovation work in the facility is nearing completion.

Furthermore, He assured Cross Riverians that the Local Government elections will be conducted and urged voters and stakeholders to look out for aspirants who love the people and are willing to serve and not those who are eager to go into government and amass wealth.
