Senator Ojang Onor calls on all Cross Riverians to support the Governor.

By Christiana Ofem

Senator Sandy Ojang Onor has congratulated Senator Bassey Edet Otu on his affirmation as Governor of Cross River State. In a congratulatory message issued on January 13, 2024, Senator Onor said that the Supreme Court’s confirmation of Senator Otu’s election was a victory for the people of Cross River State.

“I write, most sincerely, to congratulate the Governor and his Deputy, Rt. (Hon.) Peter Odey for the successful journey from the Primaries, through the main election and leading up to the final declaration at the Supreme Court, which typifies the entire gamut of every election cycle,” Senator Onor wrote.

Senator Onor also thanked all those who supported Senator Otu during the election campaign, including the clergy, youths, elders, men and women, party faithful, and The Caterpillar Movement.

“We call on all and sundry to give His Excellency, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, and those who work with him, all the support, advice, and prayers that they would need to make Cross River State, the dream homeland that we would all cherish,” Senator Onor said.

Senator Otu was elected Governor of Cross River State in the 2023 general election. However, his election was challenged by his main opponent, Senator Sandy Ojang Onor, at the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court upheld Senator Otu’s election on January 12, 2024.

Senator Onor’s congratulatory message is a sign that he has accepted the Supreme Court’s decision and is willing to work with Senator Otu to develop Cross River State. It is also a call to all Cross Riverians to come together and support the new Governor.
