While there have been calls for a reduction in public expenditures, the Ondo State budget for the 2025 fiscal year has raised eyebrows.

A SaharaReporters’ review of the Ondo State budget performance document has shown that the Office of the Deputy Governor plans to spend N15million on two executive chairs and another N20 million on an executive table.
This plan would mean that each of the executive chairs planned for purchase would cost N7.5million.
While there have been calls for a reduction in public expenditures, the Ondo State budget for the 2025 fiscal year has raised eyebrows.
Earlier, a SaharaReporters’ review of the 2025 budget document of Ondo State showed that the State House of Assembly plans to spend N200 million on telephone charges.
This would mean that every month, the state plans to spend N16 million on telephone charges, and N533,333 every day in a thirty-day calendar month.
It would also mean that every hour, the state plans to spend N22,222 on telephone charges.
Another budget of N10 million is earmarked for the House Committee’s expenditure on telephone charges.
Further review of the 2025 proposed budget by Ondo State also shows that a sum of N20 million has been earmarked for “executive chairs” by the Office of the Accountant General.
Details in the document show that the procurement of forty executive chairs is estimated at N20 million.
This development would mean that each executive chair is expected to cost N500,000.
Other expenditures by the office include N8million earmarked for the construction of a treasury gate and gatehouse.
Another N7million is budgeted for the renovation and furnishing of the OAG Primary Data Centre.
Upgrading of developed and deployed software is estimated to cost N7.5million.
