The Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Media Network, Cross River State chapter, has welcomed new members. The induction ceremony occurred in Ogoja last month as part of a three-day training program for the Network members.
Five new members were admitted: Eme Offiong from Voice of Nigeria (VON), Nakanda Iyadim from the Cross River State Ministry of Information, Richard Ndoma from Leadership Newspaper, Happiness Ifiok from African Independent Television (AIT), Miracle Edor from Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and Scholastica Ferox from Hit 95.9 FM (The Orange Show).
During the inauguration, Wale Elekulosi, the National Coordinator of the WASH Media Network, encouraged the new members to become change agents.
Elekulosi emphasised the importance of covering WASH issues, stating, “It’s a critical sector in our existence.” The National Coordinator urged members to dig deep and ensure that the voices of the people are heard through impactful storytelling.
The training was organized under the WASH Systems for Health (WS4H) Programme, which is supported by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by Self Help Africa (SHA). The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of the state’s WASH Media Network, empowering them to serve as watchdogs, storytellers, and advocates in their communities.
