The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist, identified as Michael Michael Edoh, during a routine crime-prevention operation in Calabar. Edoh, who resides at No. 136 IBB Way, was intercepted by the Garment Factory along Jonathan Bypass after exhibiting suspicious behaviour while entering the city.

According to a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ugbo Irene, officers searched for the suspect and recovered a locally made pistol and three live cartridges. Edoh reportedly admitted ownership of the weapon and confessed to being a member of the Viking confraternity during interrogation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, PSC, mnips, commended the operations that led to the arrest, noting that the increased visibility of police patrols and strategic deployment of stop-and-check teams at flashpoints have been instrumental in maintaining the state’s low crime rate.
