The Headquarters of 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, has announced an amendment to the previously scheduled screening and verification exercise for children of deceased Nigerian Army personnel under the Nigerian Army Education Sponsorship Scheme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 13 Brigade, Major Yemi Sokoya, the exercise, initially slated to hold from February 2 to March 6, 2026, across geopolitical zones within Divisions and designated formations, will now take place nationwide from February 9 to March 13, 2026.
The Brigade, which operates under the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, further disclosed that the screening and verification exercise within the 82 Division’s area of responsibility, including all formations under the Division such as 13 Brigade, will be conducted at the Headquarters of the 82 Division in Enugu from February 14 to 17, 2026.
According to the statement, all eligible beneficiaries within Cross River State are required to take note of the adjustment and report to Headquarters 82 Division, Enugu, on the stipulated dates for the exercise.
Major Sokoya explained that the adjustment was made to ensure a seamless, transparent, and well-coordinated screening and verification process for qualified beneficiaries nationwide.
Parents, guardians, and beneficiaries have been advised to present all relevant documents as previously directed to facilitate a smooth exercise.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to the welfare of families of fallen personnel, emphasising that the Education Sponsorship Scheme remains one of its key initiatives aimed at supporting the educational advancement of children of soldiers who died in active service.
“The Nigerian Army, through 13 Brigade, remains resolute in its commitment to the welfare and educational advancement of the children of its fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty,” the statement added.
