A disturbing case of attempted murder and conspiracy has rocked Cross River following a formal petition by Goldminds Legal Consult to the Commissioner of Police, State Command, over a brutal attack on a young man, Mr Ransome Anock Ojah.

According to the petition dated July 5, 2024, and signed by P.B. Abah Esq., the law firm is seeking the urgent arrest and prosecution of six individuals—Mr Godknows Aho Amatey, Mr Sunday Aho Amatey, Mr Ikenga Adem Erim, Mr Annovu Sunday Aho, and Mr Amatey Otei Amatey—for their alleged involvement in the attempted murder of Ojah.

The petition provides a chilling account of events that unfolded on July 3, 2024. Ojah, while en route to Ikom, was reportedly ambushed and viciously attacked by Mr Ikenga Adem Erim, who was allegedly acting on the orders of the listed suspects. The victim sustained multiple machete cuts and a gunshot wound to the head, which left him in critical condition, but he has since shown signs of recovery.

The incident, according to the petitioners, was preceded by a meeting on July 2, 2024, at the residence of Mr Godknows Aho Amatey, an employee of the Cross River State Accountant General’s Office. During this meeting, Mr Ikenga Adem Erim allegedly brandished a gun and a machete, boasting about his gang’s control over the village. He was reportedly assured by Mr Godknows Aho Amatey that financial and legal matters could be swiftly resolved due to his connections and access to resources.

The following day, Ojah was allegedly lured into a trap after accepting a ride from Master Annovu Sunday, who dropped him off near the ambush site. There, Mr Ikenga reportedly shot him and inflicted deep machete wounds on various parts of his body in an attempt to kill him.

The petition also accuses Mr Sunday Aho Amatey of shielding the key suspect from law enforcement, openly bragging about his influence over police and judicial authorities. Furthermore, Mr Godknows Amatey is said to have frustrated the investigation by concealing Mr Ikenga and the other suspects.

As the victim continues to fight for his life, the legal team has emphasised the urgent need for justice. Those familiar with the case highlight that the accused leverages money and connections to obstruct the legal process. A court hearing is scheduled for July 15, 2025.
