Mrs Edidiong Achadu, wife of the member representing Yala 2 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Martins Achadu has assisted pupils at Community Primary School, Item, Wanikade, Ukelle North.

While presenting new uniforms, socks, sandals, and food items to the over 300 pupils in the school, Mrs Achadu restated her husband’s commitment.

The wife of the House Committee Chairman on Education in the State Assembly further emphasised the need for pupils to appear neat, especially in the face of worn-out uniforms, sandals and socks.

Mrs Achadu used the occasion to thank the wife of the state governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu who continues to motivate people to invest in humanity.

Acknowledging the gift, the Head Teacher, Mr Ferdinand Okpako, expressed delight at Mrs Edidiong Achadu’s humanitarian gesture.

Mr Ferdinand opined that the uniforms and sandals gift were “indeed a watershed in the history of Community Primary School Item considering the way she drove down here to kit the children herself.”

The Head Teacher appealed that the school needs physical structure and manpower because it is overpopulated.

On her part, Hon Ebebe Martha Achadu, the ward Councillor showered encomium on the wife of the Assembly member for “the pragmatic steps taken to see that vulnerable children in my ward are catered for with school uniforms, sandals, socks and other items to aid learning.”

Similarly, Mr Ikade Akala Junior, Chairman of Wanikade Youths, said the humanitarian gesture of Dr Achadu’s wife has raised the bar for leadership with a true sense of empathy.
