Cross River State Government Appoints Governing Board For Health Insurance Agency

The CRSHIA is tasked with implementing the state’s health insurance policy, aimed at ensuring access to affordable healthcare for residents of Cross River State.

The Cross River State Government has announced the appointment of the Governing Board for the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency (CRSHIA), following Law No. 10 of 2016. This law, which established the agency, mandates the creation of a governing body to ensure the efficient delivery of its objectives.

The board, appointed by the State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, will serve on a part-time basis, as stipulated by section 11 of the law. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nsa Gill, confirmed this in a statement issued today.

The newly appointed members of the board are as follows:

  1. Dr Comfort Ekanem – Chairman
  2. A Director Representative from the Ministry of Health – Member
  3. A representative from the Office of the Head of Service – Member
  4. Representative of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (State Planning Commission) – Member
  5. Mr Bassey Ita, representing the Nigeria Employer Consultative Association – Member
  6. Mr. Gregory Olayi, representing Organized Labour – Member
  7. Mr Stanley Efa, representing the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) – Member
  8. Representative of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency – Member
  9. Chief Godwin Iyala, Director General of CRSHIA – Member
  10. Dr. Samuel Izama Ugar, representing Public Interest – Member
  11. Pastor Orok Bassey Okon, representing Public Interest – Member
  12. Mr Ben Arikpo, representing Civil Society Organizations (CSO) – Member
  13. Mrs Comfort Victor Ikpeme, representing CSO – Member

The statement also noted that the inauguration of the board members will be announced at a later date.
