The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at empowering the youth of the Niger Delta region. The program, known as the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme, is designed to provide valuable work experience and skills development to young people between the ages of 18 and 45.
In a statement released by the Commission, it was highlighted that the application process is open to all eligible youths in the region, but the selection process will be highly competitive. Out of the numerous applicants, only 10,000 youths will be selected to benefit from the first phase of the programme.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to select their preferred place of internship, allowing them to gain experience in fields that align with their career aspirations. To ensure the success of the program, the NDDC will implement a monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework to track the progress of each intern.
One of the key benefits of the scheme is the financial support it offers. Each intern will receive a monthly stipend of ₦50,000 throughout the 12-month duration of the internship, providing them with some financial stability while they gain valuable work experience.
The NDDC Youth Internship Scheme is part of the Commission’s broader efforts to empower the youth and drive sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
