In a concerted effort to enhance unity and elevate the visibility of Cross River, Governor Bassey Otu has called on the State’s National Assembly members to collaborate and synergize beyond party lines for the betterment of the State.
The Special Adviser, National Assembly Matters, Mr Chris Mbu-Ogar appealed on behalf of Governor Otu recently during his visit to the Members representing Akamkpa/Biase and Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituencies, respectively, at the House of Representatives, Abuja.
He disclosed that the visit was to re-establish Governor Otu’s commitment to foster high-level collaboration for the progress of Cross River State.
Mr Mbu-Ogar stated that Governor Otu’s bipartisan approach is a reflection of his ‘People’s First’ agenda.
He urged Representatives to align their efforts with the Governor’s vision for the state’s advancement which will in turn translate into improved living conditions for the citizenry.
Mbu-Ogar also pointed out that the visit of the former Governor and astute Member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Liyel Imoke, to incumbent Governor Bassey Otu, Thursday, was indicative of the fact that the present administration has moved above partisan inclinations to welcoming all hands on deck towards building a greater Cross River State.
He called on politicians of Cross River descent to borrow a leaf from the two leaders’ (Otu and Imoke)’s exemplary disposition, and begin to put Cross River first, irrespective of their personal or political sentiments.
In his response, a Member representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, Hon Emil Inyang, emphasized the dire need for Cross Riverians to remain united in projecting the interest of the state, especially in the face of constrained State funding.
Pledging his support for Governor Otu, Hon Inyang stated that Cross River State has only one leader and they will rally around him to enable him to succeed.
On his part, Hon Godwin Offiono, the Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, also of the PDP, commended Governor Otu’s efforts in rebuilding the state amidst financial challenges and stressed the importance of regular collaboration among Cross River National Assembly Representatives to drive the desired progress for the good of their people.
