The Senate President of Nigeria, Sen. Godswill Akpabio alongside his wife, Unoma, attended the esteemed closing ceremony of the 60th Anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Ikot Ekpene. During the event, they were awarded the prestigious title of Grand Ambassadors of Communion by the Diocese.
This honor was bestowed upon them to acknowledge their notable contributions to the church’s development. Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Senator Eteng Williams, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akon Eyakenyin representing Governor Umo Eno, and Minister of State Petroleum (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, among others.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, the Senate President pledged to remain steadfast in their ambassadorial role for the Diocese and reiterated their commitment to furthering the church’s mission. The event marked a significant moment of celebration and reaffirmed prominent figures’ dedication to advancing religious institutions in Nigeria.
He said “Today, my dear wife, Unoma, and I, graced the closing ceremony of the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of the Catholic Diocese of Ikot Ekpene. We were both honored with the Grand Ambassadors of Communion Award by the Diocese, in recognition of our modest contributions to the development of the church.
