Police To Honor Slain Officers Gruesomely Murdered In Delta

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the Nigeria Police Force mourns the loss of six valiant officers in Delta State, who displayed exceptional courage in the face of danger. The officers fell victim to an ambush by armed assailants while on a mission to investigate the disappearance and rescue of three of their comrades in the Ohoro Forest, Delta State. Additionally, six officers are reported missing in action, intensifying the anguish gripping the law enforcement community.

The fallen heroes, Inspector Abe Olubunmi (IRT), Inspector Friday Irorere (51 PMF), Sergeant Kuden Elisha (51 PMF), Sergeant Akpan Aniette (51 PMF), Sergeant Ayere Paul (IRT), and Sergeant Ejemito Friday (51 PMF), served with unwavering dedication, their years of service etched in the annals of sacrifice. Among the missing are Inspector Onoja Daniel, Inspector Onogho Felix, Inspector Emmanuel Okoroafor, Inspector Joel Hamidu, Sergeant Moses Eduvie, and Sergeant Cyril Okorie, all esteemed members of the force.

In response to this grievous loss, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun initiated measures to address the situation, a press release signed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters held. A combined effort led to the recovery of the bodies of the six fallen officers, providing a modicum of closure to their bereaved families. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to locate and secure the remaining missing officers, ensuring no stone is left unturned in this endeavor.

The Inspector General has mandated the expedited processing and payment of all entitlements due to the families of the fallen officers, acknowledging the financial strain accompanying such tragedies. Moreover, justice looms large on the horizon, as efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime intensify. Five suspects have been apprehended, with investigations underway to dismantle the network responsible for this reprehensible act.

Despite the grim circumstances, the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its resolve to uphold law and order. The recent incidents, including the tragic loss of SP Angbashim and Inspector Jacob Daniel, underscore the inherent risks faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. The Force unequivocally condemns any further assaults on its personnel, urging unity and cooperation in combating crime and preserving peace.
