UNICROSS Alumni Launch “People’s First” Scholarship Scheme For Top Students

“Together,” declared President Peter, “we can support the government and management to make the University one of the best in the world.”

By TheInvestigator

The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Alumni Association, led by newly elected President Inyali Peter, has unveiled the “People’s First” scholarship scheme aimed at supporting exceptional undergraduate students.

Fulfilling a campaign promise, the initiative seeks to “encourage a culture of excellence” by awarding scholarships to second-year students with the highest CGPA (minimum 3.5) in each department. Dr. Paul Tawo Bukie-Achu will lead a transparent selection process in collaboration with university authorities.

President Peter emphasized the importance of education, urging students to “consider a more credible alternative” to disruptive activities by focusing on academic achievement.

The association calls on “well-meaning individuals,” alumni or not, to invest in the university, recognizing it as a “state asset” requiring broader support. Plans are underway to visit community leaders and secure funding for expanding the scheme to postgraduate programs.

“Together,” declared President Peter, “we can support the government and management to make the University one of the best in the world.”

This initiative marks a significant step towards fostering academic excellence at UNICROSS. By recognizing and rewarding top performers, the “People’s First” scholarship scheme has the potential to motivate students, attract investment, and contribute to the university’s overall development.
