TheInvestigator Centre Engages Cross River State Government On Accountability

The meeting concluded with discussions on potential areas of collaboration between the government and TJDIC to further the goals of the EAR Project.

TheInvestigator Journalism Development and Innovation Centre (TJDIC) has paid an advocacy visit to the office of the Special Adviser on Budget to the Cross River State Governor. This visit was part of TJDIC’s ongoing efforts to promote the Environmental and Accountability Reporting (EAR) Project in the Niger Delta region.

During the meeting, Mr Archibong Jeremiah, Founder and Executive Director of TJDIC, presented the organization’s mission to strengthen transparency and accountability in governance. The EAR Project, which is a key initiative of TJDIC, aims to foster public engagement, empower investigative journalists, and integrate data into government decision-making processes.

Jeremiah also highlighted the importance of sustainable development in the region and emphasized the role of journalists and civil society organizations (CSOs) in holding stakeholders accountable. 

TJDIC hub, which provides training and resources for journalists, was also discussed as a vital tool for enhancing the quality of reporting.

Mr Otu Otu Ita, the Special Adviser on Budget to the Cross River State Governor expressed appreciation for TJDIC’s efforts and acknowledged the need for improved ethical standards in reporting on accountability and good governance.

The meeting concluded with discussions on potential areas of collaboration between the government and TJDIC to further the goals of the EAR Project.

This visit marks a significant step forward in TJDIC’s mission to ensure transparency and accountability in governance across the Niger Delta.
