The Cross River State Government has summoned all proprietors of private schools in the state to a mandatory meeting ahead of the commencement of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The directive was issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Barrister Francis Oyo, on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Professor Stephen Odey.

According to an official circular (Ref: CRS/MOE/AD/308/VOL.I/051), the meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 4 September 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the West African Peoples Institute (WAPI), Calabar.

The circular noted that the gathering will deliberate on “crucial issues bordering on education in the State” and stressed that attendance by school proprietors is compulsory.

Although the Ministry did not disclose the full agenda, education stakeholders anticipate discussions on compliance with government regulations, operational standards, and strategies to improve the quality of private education in Cross River State.
