The Cross River State Police Command has expressed deep gratitude to the residents of the state for their peaceful conduct during the recent nationwide “EndBadGovernmentInNigeria” protest. In a press release issued today, the Commissioner of Police, CP Grimah, commended the people of Cross River State for maintaining order and adhering to the law, despite the perceived threats of violence associated with the protests.

CP Grimah urged the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear, dismissing any misleading or unfounded information circulating with the intent of causing unrest. He stressed the importance of being vigilant and security-conscious, encouraging residents to report any suspicious activities or unfamiliar individuals to the police or other security agencies for prompt action.

The Commissioner praised the cooperation and collective efforts of various groups across the state, including traditional and religious institutions, market associations, transport unions, student unions, and corporate bodies. Special acknowledgement was also given to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Jonathan Towuru, and the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, for their exceptional support and advisory roles.

In his statement, signed by SP Ugbo Irene Police Public Relations Officer on his behalf, CP Grimah reaffirmed the command’s commitment to upholding principles of equity, fairness, and justice, in line with 21st-century policing practices.

He called on all residents to “give peace a chance” and remain vigilant in reporting any potential threats to public safety.
