The release highlighted the necessity of government compliance with the harmonization policy document and warned against discriminatory treatment towards LOAN members.

By Archibong Jeremiah

The Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Cross River State chapter, has initiated a warning strike due to the exclusion of law officers from the enhanced salary package for Magistrates in the state. The strike, announced in a press release signed by E.I. Araghe, Esq., Chairman of the Association, and C.A. Adama, Esq. Chairman of the Action Committee, begins today, March 27, 2024, and ends on April 2, 2024.

Expressing deep concern over the failure to implement the approved parity between Law Officers and Magistrates regarding the recent 50% salary increase for Magistrates since June 2022 without a corresponding raise for Law Officers, the association emphasized the hardships faced by its members in representing the government in courts across the state.

The release highlighted the necessity of government compliance with the harmonization policy document and warned against discriminatory treatment towards LOAN members.

As a result, all Law Officers are directed to participate in the three-day warning strike. Failure to address the issues raised may lead to an indefinite strike without further notice.
