Candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Cross River State have unanimously endorsed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate, describing him as the leader capable of rebuilding Nigeria and restoring public confidence in governance.

In a joint statement signed by several ADC candidates in the state, the party stakeholders said the endorsement followed extensive consultations with supporters, stakeholders, and grassroots structures across Cross River State.

The candidates stated that their decision was based on what they described as the need for “experienced, inclusive, and visionary leadership” capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic and political challenges while strengthening democratic institutions and national unity.

According to the statement, Atiku’s leadership experience, commitment to democratic values, and support for participatory governance make him the preferred choice for the party at a “critical moment” in the country’s history.

The ADC candidates further noted that his emergence would provide opportunities for young people, women, businesses, and vulnerable communities, while also advancing economic reforms and national development devoid of sectional interests.

They called on party supporters and members across Cross River State to unite behind what they termed a “shared vision of national renewal, justice, prosperity, and accountable governance.”

Among those who signed the endorsement statement are Barrister Wilfred Usani, Prof. Joe Edet, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, Dr. Inyang Unoh, Hon. Johnson Okolie, Prince Paulinus Mbey, Ms. Offiong Nsefik, and Chief Emmanuel Etenne.

The endorsement comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the next general elections, with political parties and stakeholders intensifying consultations and coalition-building efforts across the country.
