The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Professor Francisca Bassey, has inspected ongoing capital projects at the university’s Calabar campus, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to quality infrastructure and timely project delivery.

The inspection, conducted on March 3, 2026, commenced at the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Block, situated adjacent to the Faculty of Engineering. Professor Bassey expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work and the quality of the finish, commending the contractor for adhering to the approved specifications and timelines. The facility, which will be equipped with modern ICT infrastructure, is expected to strengthen digital learning, teaching, and research across the university.

The Vice Chancellor also visited the site of the Professorial Office Block currently under construction. While assessing the work done so far, she expressed concern about the slow pace of construction and the quality of finishing. She urged the contractor to accelerate work and strictly comply with approved standards and contractual terms.

At the Computer Science Block undergoing reconstruction, Professor Bassey praised the structural extension design and the quality of materials being used. She reiterated the university management’s commitment to providing durable and functional facilities capable of meeting the growing academic and administrative needs of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied on the inspection by the Director of Physical Planning, Mr Evogor Eso; the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Victor Ndifon; the Acting Head of the Department of Software Engineering, Dr Ofut Ogar; and other university directors.

The inspection underscores the university’s commitment to strong infrastructure standards.
