Stakeholders and party faithful of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in all 6 local government areas of the Central Senatorial District of Cross River have endorsed the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, for a second term in office as Governor.

The endorsement, which took place on Saturday at the Ikom Township stadium, had in attendance legislators of both the Red and Green chambers of the National Assembly representing the central senatorial district, appointees of the governor of Cross River State from central, among other dignitaries.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy State Chairman of the APC, Hon Ekum Ojoju, who scored the governor high in performance in infrastructural development, said the governor deserves a second term

“We congregate in the vibrant Central Senatorial District of Cross River State to pay homage to a leader of character and unwavering dedication, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu. As we gather to adopt Governor Otu for a second term, we do so with unbridled enthusiasm and unshakable conviction.” Hon Ekum said.

Applauding the governor, he added, “In his leadership and governance, he has been a beacon of hope, illuminating the path to progress and prosperity for all our beloved state. Under this stewardship, the Cross River State has witnessed unprecedented growth, development and peace. His policies have been a testament to his visionary leadership, and his commitment to the well-being of our citizens is unparalleled.

“We, the people of Cross River State, have seen the transformative power of Governor Otu’s leadership. We have witnessed the construction of roads, the empowerment of our youth and the improvement of our healthcare system. Today, we say unequivocally that Governor Otu deserves another term.”

Also speaking, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem, speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, echoed Hon Ekum’s position and thanked the party stakeholders in the Central for endorsing the governor for a second term in office.

Reflecting, Rt Hon Elvert said, “We have in a few years lost some of our distinctive virtues as a result of our unguided or out-of-season divided political aspiration. We have drifted offshores into an uncharted sea, endangering our very own species.

“Notwithstanding, today, there is never a group that is not faced with any challenges. But the regard and coming back strongly are what is imminent.” Rt Hon Elvert said.

He added that “Today, Central is coming together without duress to forge a symbol of unity, strength and prosperity. The Central Progressive Initiative is an initiative charged with the rehabilitation, restoration and reinvigoration of the sleeping giants. Upon this platform, we have come to perform a symbolic activity in good faith and standing with good governance.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Special Adviser of the Governor on Youth Mobilisation, Mr Dan Obo Jnr. said “the endorsement is a justification of the peoples’ trust in the Gov Bassey Edet Otu.”

Furthermore, he said “The essence of this is to show our commitment and support, and to affirm the fact that we are comfortable with his style of leadership. And the season of sweetness has to go back for the good of our state and to sustain the economy and our culture.”
