The Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Orientation (SAGSO) has announced the upcoming “Educational Orientation Summit” set to take place on 17th September 2024. The summit, themed “Navigating Educational Opportunities in Cross River State” will be held at the College of Nursing Sciences, UCTH, Moore Road, Calabar, starting at 9:30 AM prompt.
The event promises to be a major platform for students, educators, and stakeholders in the education sector to explore opportunities available in Cross River State’s educational landscape.
The summit will feature high-profile guests, including:
His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River State, who will serve as the Guest of Honour, Senator (Barr.) Stephen Odey, Honourable Commissioner of Education, Cross River State, and Mr Ibor J. Otu, Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Cross River State.
In addition, notable well-wishers such as Honourable Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Professor Francisca Bassey, Director of the University of Calabar’s Centre for Education Service (CES), and Comrade Olayi Emmanuel, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Chairman, Mr Dan Obo, Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization to the State Governor and Ambassador Emmanuel Iwara, Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Council (NANS JCC) will also be in attendance.
Prominent speakers at the summit include Dr Ovat Okpa, Department of Educational Management, University of Calabar (UNICAL), Dr (Prince) Michael Abuo, State Focal Person for the Presidential Palliatives Grant Scheme, and Leader Ben Usang, Coordinator, Cross River State Civil Society Network.
Panelists set to engage the audience include Honourable Boniface Okache, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, Special Adviser on General Duties to the State Governor, Comrade Blessing Alims, SUG President of UNICAL, Barrister John Inaku, lecturer at the faculty of law, University of Calabar, and Comrade Victor Asuquo, SUG President of College of Nursing UCTH Calabar.
Others are Comrade Divie Anam, SUG President of the School of Health Information Management UCTH Calabar, Comrade Francis Adie, SUG President of College of Nursing Sciences Calabar, and Mr Oyo Effiom, CEO of The Guild Foundation, who will serve as the panel moderator.
