The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has endorsed the upcoming Educational Orientation Summits for secondary schools and tertiary institutions in Cross River. The initiative is led by Afufu Anthony Ogar, the Special Assistant on Students’ Orientation to the State Governor, Bassey Otu.
The summit is designed to orient the students on the strides of the “Peoples First” and will address the rising issues of social vices, and other immoral activities in schools.
Mr Ibor Otu, Director of the Cross River Directorate gave the nod yesterday during a courtesy call by the SA Students’ Orientation and his team.
He spoke highly of the State Governor and his “Peoples First” agenda. “The governor is humane and I believe he has appointed the right person for the job,” Mr Ibor said.
Lamenting about the paucity of funds he reaffirmed that he is not deterred to carry out his duties. “We are here to give advice, that is why we operate an open-door policy, we are here to give advice,” the Director who is at the peak of his career revealed.
He pledged to provide a resource person and banner for the upcoming Educational Orientation Summits intended to be held in August 2024.
Earlier, Afufu Anthony, Otu’s Students’ Orientation Assistant while stating the purpose of the call emphasized the urgent need for an intentional orientation programme in schools due to the increasing prevalence of negative behaviours among students.
Afufu, a former Students Union Government (SUG) President of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) spoke passionately about the important role orientation plays in keeping the society in order.
He thanked the State Director of NOA for the audience despite his busy schedule.
