In a victory for justice, 25-year-old Mr. Aniedi Mfon has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of an 8-year-old child.
The sentence was handed down in suit no: HC/FC/5C/2023 by Hon. Justice Blessing Egwu of Court 12, Cross River State High Court.
His sentence also included a fine of one million Naira to be paid to the survivor.
James Ibor, Principal Counsel to the Basic Rights Council Initiative (BRCI) took to his Facebook wall to express gratitude to the authorities involved in the case.
He commended the Prosecutor, Barrister Patience Akpama, and postulated that her future is bright.
