A destructive storm wreaked havoc on Ito Community in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State Monday evening, leaving a trail of destruction and displacing numerous families. The storm, which struck between 7 and 8 pm, resulted in the destruction of over 50 houses, leaving many residents homeless and in urgent need of assistance.

The impact of the storm has been severe, with homes reduced to rubble and families left without shelter. Local authorities and emergency response teams are yet to assess the extent of the damage.

Speaking to TheInvestigator,  a resident, Lawrence Ito described the harrowing experience of witnessing their homes being torn apart by the powerful winds. Many are now facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from the ground up, with little to no resources at their disposal.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of communities to natural disasters and underscores the need for proactive measures to mitigate their impact.
