Reports from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have revealed that investigations into financial misappropriation at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs are still ongoing, with no officials having been cleared of any wrongdoing at this time.

The EFCC has reported that they have discovered fraudulent dealings related to COVID-19 funds, World Bank loans, and Abacha loot, with banks involved in the fraud being investigated and Managing Directors providing useful statements.

In addition, the EFCC has recovered a total of N32.7 billion and $445,000 in the ongoing investigation. The public has been urged to continue supporting the EFCC by reporting Naira abuse and Dollarization of the economy, with increased awareness of the issue.

The EFCC has stated that they are committed to prosecuting those involved in Naira abuse, with a new task force having come into operation since February 7, 2024. Several celebrities are currently under investigation for Naira abuse, with some providing statements and more likely to be invited for questioning.

The EFCC has maintained its no-sacred-cow approach, warning the public to comply with laws against the crime and reassuring them that they will continue to work tirelessly to uncover any fraudulent activities and bring those responsible to justice.
