The Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has denied allegations of fraud, saying it has improved primary education in the state by constructing and renovating schools, providing teachers with training and technology, and increasing enrollment.
“We have improved primary education in the state by constructing and renovating schools, providing teachers with the necessary training and technology, and increasing enrollment,” the Board said in a statement.
The Board was reacting to an investigation, “How Contract Fraud, Substandard Projects By Politicians, Contractors Negatively Impact Basic Education In Cross River State“.
Also, the Board denied that any contracts were awarded without following procurement laws.
“All contracts awarded by the Board followed due process as stipulated by law,” the statement said.
The Board said the previous leadership under Dr. Stephen Odey should be commended for its achievements.
“The previous administration under Dr. Stephen Odey did a great job in improving the quality of education in the state,” the Board said.
