The Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah has played host to his members in the State Inter-Agency Consultative Committee On Election Security (ICCES).

In attendance were Prof. Gabriel Yomere,  the State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), and Service Commanders, among others.

The meeting was held on Friday 19 January 2023.

The Commissioner of Police is the head of ICCES.

Topping the agenda was the evaluation of election security challenges, if any, in the four LGAs where re-run elections will be conducted on the 3rd of February, 2024. They are Yala and Obanliku House of Assembly and Biase/Akamkpa National Assembly.

Synergy and collaboration with other sister agencies were emphasized as cardinal to overpower any vices.

On his part, the REC Prof. Gabriel Yomere briefed members how prepared they are.

He gave updates on the various stages which include: the collection of non-sensitive materials, meeting with political parties/contenders, and flag-off of voters’ education in the affected LGAs (34 polling units).

Others are the opening of the INEC website for the registration of political party agents which commenced 18th January 2024, and the sensitization of stakeholders to shun violence.
