Cross River State deputy governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey has been capped Lekwel E’Mbe 1. The chieftaincy title was given to him by the Paramount Ruler of Ogoja, HRM, Oti Mathias Odey Abua.

The title was presented during the homecoming ceremony organized to officially welcome the deputy governor home after the general elections.

The homecoming was yesterday, Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, held at Lutheran Primary School, Ekumtak, Mbube.

Thanking his people for the love, Lekwel E’Mbe 1 took to Facebook to express his gratitude to his people.

His post in full:

I thank the Paramount Ruler of Ogoja, HRM, Oti Mathias Odey Abua, the entire Chiefs, sons and daughters of Mbube nation for finding me worthy of the conferment of a Chieftaincy Title, Lekwel E’Mbe 1.

I am overwhelmed by the show of love, kindness, and commitment by my people. This recognition means so much to me and I cannot thank you all enough.

Together, we will make the Mbe nation proud. I cannot do it all alone, I need your wise counsel, support, and love so that our nation can grow stronger and better.

As a people, we must put Mbe and Cross River State first in anything we do. We must come together and speak with one formidable voice for the growth of Mbe. Politics can never and will never divide us. I call on my brothers on the other side to join hands with me as we work towards moving Mbe and Cross River State forward.

Thank you and God bless.

Rt. Hon. Peter Odey is a two-term House of Assembly member who represented Ogoja constituency.
