In an unprecedented initiative to nurture talent and empower the youth, the highly-anticipated Airfesters Animation Festival, Africa’s biggest convergence of animators, creators, and innovators, is gearing up for its second edition in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
With a dedicated vision to train 1000 youth in the intricate art of 3D animation, the festival stands as a catalyst for creative expression, youth empowerment, and job creation.
During a recent press conference led by the festival’s convener and Creative Director of Airfesters Limited, Rekpene John, the theme “Fostering Youth Empowerment and Job Creation” was unveiled.
According to John, “Our vision is to make Cross River State the disneyland of Africa.”
In a resounding affirmation of their commitment to empowering young talents, the festival organizers proudly announced a star prize of N1 million, accompanied by numerous consolation prizes. This is designed to celebrate and incentivize exceptional talents emerging from the festival’s spirited animation contest.
Distinguished facilitators for the festival include Dr. Justin Beshel, Honorable Commissioner for Science, Innovation, and Technology of Cross River State; Mrs. Idara Anko, Center Manager of Aptech Computer Education, Calabar Center; and esteemed personalities Mercy Hephzibah Ndifon and Paul Adie.
The festival taking place from the 5th – 8th of December 2023.
This event is organized by Airfesters Limited in collaboration with Aptech Computer Education, Calabar Center, and the Cross River State Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
